What is a marketing contact in Hubspot?

The difference between Marketing Contacts and Non-Marketing Contacts and why the distinction is so important

A marketing contact in Hubspot is able to be sent marketing (batch) emails. Non-Marketing Contacts in Hubspot cannot receive marketing emails but can still be sent one-to-one emails through sequences or directly from Hubspot if your email inbox is connected to your Hubspot account. 

Contacts can be marked as Marketing Contacts at any time by editing the contact field "Marketing Contact Status"

Contacts can have their marketing contact status removed by editing the same field, but they will continue to count against your account's Marketing Contact limit until the beginning of your next billing cycle.  

If your account exceeds it's Marketing Contact status limit it will automatically be upgraded to the next tier and billed accordingly.
