Sequences vs Marketing Emails

What is the difference between marketing emails and sequences and when should each of them be used?

What are Sequences

These are one-to-one emails (or a series of emails) that are automated by Hubspot but send from your email account. From the recipient's perspective, these emails appear to have come directly from your Outlook or Gmail account.

When Should we Use Sequences?

Sequences should be used to start conversations with individuals, or when you want to customize the email for each recipient. There are limits to how many emails can be sent via sequences, so they are best used when targeting very focused lists.

Contacts do not have to be marketing contacts in order to be enrolled in a sequence.

Example: I want to invite each of my clients to an event or tell them about a new product they may be interested in.

What are Marketing Emails?

Marketing (or batch) emails are used when sending the same message to a list of contacts. The number of recipients is only limited by the number of Marketing Contacts you have purchased as part of your Hubspot plan.

Marketing emails are best used to send out content, announcements, or any other message that does not need to be customized for each individual recipient.

Example: We want to distribute our latest whitepaper or build a nurture workflow that sends multiple pieces of content over several days or weeks.
